One by One Leadership is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage people in urban leadership that results in the economic, educational and spiritual transformation of our community.

One by One Leadership Foundation Reorganizing as a Volunteer Organization

After 14 years as a faith-based organization dedicated to transforming our community through collaboration and the development of urban leadership, One by One Leadership is reorganizing as a volunteer movement.

Since 1996 One by One has leveraged hundreds of thousands of person-hours from churches, businesses, and non-profit organizations and significant investment from congregations, foundations, and government entities to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and families living in Fresno’s most vulnerable neighborhoods.

Believing that great things happen when people allow their “hearts to be broken for the things that break God’s heart for their city,” One by One has helped incubate and launch many important ministries and organizations that continue to serve our community today.

Over the last several years, One by One managed many multi-partner collaborative programs and became encumbered with properties it hoped to develop into a downtown campus of non-profits transforming our community. With a declining real estate market, and a significant downturn in our economy, our reduced income and de-valued assets don’t justify maintaining a paid administrative staff.

Over the next six months, One by One will focus on its fiscal health and placing the CityBuilders Campus of historic homes into the hands of investors, partners, friends and developers who have a passion for the revitalization of downtown and a vision for building our community through commercial, adaptive re-use of historic assets.

Simultaneously, One by One will reorganize for this season as a volunteer organization. By significantly reducing operations and programs in the next few weeks, One by One will return to a form it followed in its early years.

The Board of Directors and staff sincerely thank the many friends and supporters of One by One for their generosity in helping thousands in our community tangibly experience the love of God and an improved quality of life and look forward to our future work together for the continued transformation of our community spiritually, socially, educationally and economically.
